🏄♂️ Advanced surfing at The Wave, Bristol – barrels, airs and more
Ready to step up your game? The Wave’s advanced settings push your surfing to new levels with steep faces, tubing sections and ramps for airs. Here’s what you need to know before you book.
🌊 Barrel settings
The Barrels wave offers a steep take‑off and hollow section that allows you to tuck in and ride a tube. It’s an ideal environment to practise line selection, stall techniques and exit strategies without worrying about rips or rocks.
🚀 Performance waves
The Airs and Turns settings produce steeper, faster faces with critical sections perfect for snaps, cut‑backs and aerials. Thanks to Wavegarden’s consistency, you can repeat the same manoeuvre multiple times and refine your technique.
💡 Tips for advanced sessions
- 🏄♂️ Bring the right board. A high‑performance shortboard or step‑up works best in the advanced settings. Talk to the surf shop if you need equipment advice.
- 💪 Stay fit. Advanced sessions can be intense. A warm‑up and some dynamic stretching will help you perform better and avoid injury.
- 🤝 Respect the lineup. It’s still one surfer per wave. Follow the rotation and celebrate everyone’s ride.
