Surf Parks in the UK: Live Sessions & Alerts

The UK has two big surf parks with waves on a schedule, whatever the swell is doing: The Wave near Bristol and Lost Shore near Edinburgh. Both run on Wavegarden technology, and both sell out at busy times. Surf Session Finder shows live availability at each and sends you a free alert when a sold-out session frees up.

The Wave Bristol

The Wave is a Wavegarden Cove surf lake at Easter Compton in South Gloucestershire, close to junction 17 of the M5 near Bristol. It sends a new wave every 8 to 10 seconds, from 50 cm (1.7 ft) up to almost 2 m (6.5 ft), with sessions from Beginner through Expert. Lessons start with Little Rippers for ages 4 to 12, and parking is free.

Lost Shore Edinburgh

Lost Shore Surf Resort is in Ratho, on the western edge of Edinburgh, 10 minutes from the airport. Its Wavegarden lagoon makes up to 1,000 waves an hour, from the Cruiser wave up to Barrels and Turns to Tubes. Surf sessions are for ages 7 and up, and you'll need to swim 25 m. There are lodges and pods on site if you want to stay over.

FAQ

Is there surfing in the UK?

Yes. Away from the coast, the UK's two surf parks, The Wave near Bristol and Lost Shore near Edinburgh, make waves on a timetable, so you can book a session for a set time instead of waiting for swell.

Can beginners surf at a UK surf park?

Yes. Both parks run beginner lessons in small whitewater waves in their bay areas, plus lessons or coaching for surfers who want to move up.

How do I get a session when it's sold out?

Set a free alert on Surf Session Finder for the park, level and times you want. We watch the booking pages and tell you the moment a spot opens, including cancellations. You then book it yourself on the park's own site.
