🌊 About Lost Shore Edinburgh
Lost Shore Surf Resort is an inland surf resort in Ratho, on the western edge of Edinburgh. Its Wavegarden-powered lagoon makes up to 1,000 waves an hour, and the resort calls it Europe's largest wave pool. It opened to the public in November 2024.
- Waves: Cruiser, Cruiser Plus, Turns, Manoeuvres, Manoeuvres Plus, Barrels, High Performance and Turns to Tubes, plus an Air Wave on selected dates.
- Who can surf: surf sessions are for ages 7 and up, and you need to be able to swim 25 m. Wetsuits are mandatory. First-timers start with a lesson in knee-high whitewater in the bay.
- Getting there: 11 South Platt Hill, Newbridge, EH28 8AY. It's 10 minutes from Edinburgh Airport and about 25 minutes from the city centre, with free parking and bus links.
- On site: heated changing rooms, board hire (a soft board is included with every session), places to eat, a sauna, and pods and lodges to stay over.
- Booking: Lost Shore takes walk-ins when there's space but recommends booking ahead, and that's where a free alert helps.
