Surf Session Finder — Lost Shore Edinburgh

Visiting Lost Shore Edinburgh

Lost Shore Surf Resort is in Ratho, on the western edge of Edinburgh. It's 10 minutes from Edinburgh Airport and about 25 minutes from the city centre. Here's how to get there and what to bring.

Where is Lost Shore?

The address is 11 South Platt Hill, Newbridge, EH28 8AY (what3words: ///outs.stones.embodied). There's no access via Wilkieston Road, so don't follow a sat nav that sends you that way.

Getting there by bus

You can also cycle in along the Union Canal.

Driving and parking

Lost Shore is less than 5 miles from the M8, the M9 and the Edinburgh city bypass. Parking is free, and the main car park is a 200 m walk from the entrance building. There are EV chargers on site.

Opening times

The resort opens to the public from 8am and is free to visit, so friends can come and watch from the café and terrace. Waves run while it's light, so surf hours get shorter through autumn and winter: 8am to 6pm in October and 9am to 5pm in November. See exact session times on the live Lost Shore schedule.

What to bring

Eating and staying over

Lost Kitchen serves food from 8am to 4pm, alongside Lost Flock and Civerinos pizza. After your surf there's a sauna, a wellness studio and 60 acres of country park with walking trails.

To stay over, Lost Shore has 53 units across Waterfront Pods, Waterfront Lodges and Hilltop Lodges. The Hilltop Lodges are dog-friendly. Check-in is from 4pm and check-out by 10am.

Before you book

Lost Shore takes walk-ins when there's space, but recommends booking ahead. Sessions are for ages 7 and up, and you need to be able to swim 25 m. If the water gets too cold and Lost Shore postpones your surf, it offers a full refund. Pick your wave with our Lost Shore wave types guide, and if your session is sold out, set a free Lost Shore alert to hear the moment a spot opens.
