Visiting Atlantic Park Surf
Atlantic Park Surf is a Wavegarden Cove surf lagoon at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. Here's what to know before your session.
Where is Atlantic Park Surf?
The address is 365 18th Street, Virginia Beach, VA 23451. The lagoon sits on Atlantic Avenue between 18th and 20th Streets, next to the ViBe district.
Parking
Atlantic Park Surf doesn't own or run any parking. Use the surface lot off 18th Street, the paid parking on 17th and 20th Streets, or a city garage nearby.
Arriving for your session
- Sign the waiver online before you come. Every surfer needs one.
- Arrive 45 minutes early for check-in, your wristband and the safety briefing.
- Age: public sessions are for surfers aged 8 and up. For a private rental the minimum can drop to 6, if the child is a capable swimmer.
- Outside food and drink aren't allowed in.
Water temperature and wetsuits
The lagoon isn't held at a set temperature; it follows natural conditions. Wetsuits aren't required, but as the water cools the park has wetsuits, boots, gloves and hoods to rent, plus hot showers. Beginner and Novice sessions include a wetsuit and soft-top board.
Rentals and facilities
- Surfboards, from soft-tops to performance shortboards, with fins, leash and wax included
- Rip Curl wetsuits, boots, gloves and hoods, bodyboards and towels
- Rental lockers, changing rooms and heated showers
- Food from Nami Nori and Wiseguy Pizza
- A Beach Pass for the lagoon-side beach area, and a Sunset Pass from 5pm that includes the night surf sessions and the bar

Weather
If the park closes for weather, you get a full or partial credit or a voucher, depending on how much of your session was left.
