Alaïa Bay Session Levels & Wave Types
Alaïa Bay uses Wavegarden Cove technology in a 100 × 100 m lagoon to generate consistent, programmable waves across ten distinct levels — from first-timer softboard sessions to overhead barrels.
Beginner Levels (softboard required)
- Rookie (0.7 m) – Introduction to surfing. Pop-up practice on gentle whitewater. Perfect for first-timers.
- Rookie Rider (0.8 m) – Progressing from whitewater to riding direction. Still on softboard.
- Cruiser (1.0 m) – First green-wave sideways riding. The most popular entry-level wave.
Intermediate Levels
- Intermediate Cruiser (1.2 m) – For multi-year surfers moving to faster green waves.
- Advanced Cruiser (1.4 m) – Out-the-back surfers, all board types welcome.
Advanced & Expert Levels
- Advanced Turn (1.6 m) – Fast, hollow takeoff for shortboarders. Performance-focused.
- Expert Turn (1.7 m) – Strong surfers comfortable in bigger waves. Pro-style carves.
- Mega Turn (1.8 m) – The biggest non-barrel wave at Alaïa Bay. Max challenge for turn surfers.
Barrel Levels (helmet required)
- Expert Barrel (1.7 m) – Entry-level barrel sessions. Your first tube ride at Alaïa Bay.
- Mega Barrel (1.7 m) – For confident barrel surfers ready for the heavy slab.
